Farnborough Station is your nearest rail station, situated just north of Farnborough town centre.  Both platforms at this station have step-free access. Regular services operate both in/out of London Waterloo, Woking, Basingstoke, Reading, Exeter, Plymouth, Winchester, Southampton, Salisbury and Portsmouth.

Railcards

Travelling on the train regularly can be cheap! Railcards are a great way to save money (up to a third) on train travel. There are several cards available, these include:

  • 16-17 Saver;
  • 16-25 Railcard;
  • 26-30 Railcard;
  • Disabled Person Railcard;
  • Two Together Railcard;
  • Friends and Family Railcard; and
  • Senior Railcard.

 

Touch SmartCards

South Western Railway have recently introduced a Touch Smartcard to hold your train tickets electronically. They are free to obtain and can be loaded with your tickets using the SWR app. These are a great alternative to paper tickets. They are more durable, harder to loose and are less harmful to the environment!

 

Getting to the station

Travel by Bus

Farnborough station is located on the No. 2 bus service route, with services stopping adjacent to the station forecourt. Travelling by bus to the station could be cheaper than parking for the day.

Why not try out the Plus Bus scheme? This allows you to make further savings on your bus transfer ticket, either to the station or at your journey destination.

Plus Bus Farnborough is £4.80/day, £16.70/week, £63.50/month, £177/quarterly and £635/year for an adult, with 25% reduced rates for children and railcard holders.

You can purchase Plus Bus at the station or online at the time of booking your journey. To start your journey with a bus trip to the station, you must obtain your tickets in advance of the day of travel. There are two ways you can do this:

  • Have your tickets posted to you
  • Pick up your tickets from the station

Parking charges at the station:

Off-peak from 14:00 Monday to Friday; weekend tickets are available after 12:00 Friday to Sunday.

Off-peak £3.50/day, peak £9.70/day, £43.90/week, £116.90/month, £350.70 quarterly, and £1269 annually.

There are currently 12 Electric Vehicle Charging Points.

 

Cycling to the Station

For the more energetic it is possible to cycle between Sun/Helios Park and Farnborough town centre/rail station. It is approximately 2.2 miles or a 40 minute walk.  There is plenty of cycle parking at the station both on and off the platform.  If you are travelling on a folding bike or outside of rush hour on a standard cycle you could take your bike on the train.  Check with the rail operator’s website for conditions of carriage.
